The Limone-Monesi route is a splendid itinerary that winds between 1,800 and 2,100 meters of altitude on an ancient military road.
The entirely unpaved track that connects the two towns has a total length of 39 km and it is open in summer and autumn. The most trained cyclists will be able to try their hand at a ring track, which can also be traveled by motorbike, quad and 4 × 4, of about 120km that, at the end of the paid section (only for motor vehicles), reached the junction for Monesi, continue to the right for the Passo del Tanarello. Just before the pass, a slight detour will take you to the summit of the Redentore, a panoramic point not to be missed. Returning to the Tanarello pass, continue towards Collardente and the Basse di Sanson from where, turning right, you reach the Chapel of Notre Dame des Fontaines with its magnificent frescoes and later the French municipality of La Brigue. Continue on asphalt towards Tenda and from there towards Casterino from which you go up the dirt road towards Basse di Peyrafica to reach the Colle di Tenda skirting the forts of the late nineteenth century.
